CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team, ranked ninth in the most recent Campbell/ITA Tennis Poll, will play a pair of matches at home this weekend against conference foes. The Tigers (14-3, 2-1 ACC) will take on #26 NC State (9-4, 1-2 ACC) at 11:00 am on Saturday, before taking on #62 Wake Forest (6-7, 0-1 ACC) on Sunday at noon.
Both matches will take place at the Hoke Sloan outdoor tennis center, but could be moved inside if inclement weather prevails on Sunday (Weekend Forecast). Live scoring will be available for both matches at ClemsonTigers.com.
Clemson has won nine straight against the Wolfpack, dating back to a 2001 win in the ACC tournament, and 36 of 40 overall. The Tigers are 24-17 all-time against the Demon Deacons, including the last eight in a row.
The Tigers have not played since a Mar. 16 win over Columbia in Boca Raton during spring break. Before that, Clemson defeated #20 South Florida and #13 Florida State in consecutive matches on Mar. 5 and 7, respectively. Sophomore Keri Wong earned ACC Player of the week honors following those victories.
Overall, the Tigers have won five of their last six, including four wins over top-25 teams. This will be a critical weekend in conference action, as the Tigers jockey for position. Clemson has already played three top-15 ACC teams, and is starting to build its resume for seeding in the ACC Tournament, which will take place from April 22-25 in Cary, NC.
Three Tigers are ranked in the most recent singles poll, with Ina Hadziselimovic are ranked 17th in doubles, while Hadziselimovic and Wong are ranked 34th.
Following the weekend series, Clemson will travel to Maryland on April 1 and Boston College on April 3 for key league dual matches.
