Duke Match Notes

  • Clemson will be Duke’s third straight ranked opponent. The Blue Devils are 4-1-1 on the season and boast a draw with defending national champion Virginia last week.
  • Duke and Clemson did not meet last season for the first time since 1966, a span of 48 years. 
  • In 2013, the last meeting between the two, Clemson observed senior day at Historic Riggs Field. The Tigers lost 1-0 despite strong performances from Thomas McNamara and Andrew Tarbell in goal. 
  • All-time, Clemson trails in the series between the two programs 23-26-5. 
  • T-shirts featuring the “100 Years of Riggs Field” logo will be given out to the first 250 fans at Friday’s match.

Brown Match Notes

  • Clemson and Brown will meet for the first time since 2004 and the fifth time overall. The Tigers are 3-1 against the Bears all-time, including wins in the last three matches.
  • Clemson head coach Mike Noonan was the head coach at Brown from 1995 to 2009, where he went 160-77-31 with the Bears. 
  • Noonan was the head coach at Brown for two of it’s four meetings with Clemson, in 2000 and in 2004, both were Clemson wins. The Bears visited Historic Riggs Field in 2000, while Clemson visited Brown in 2004.
  • The Tigers and Bears will play again next season, at Brown.
