Clemson Notes:

  • The Tigers (3-1) are coming off a 0-1 loss at sixth-ranked West Virginia on Friday, Aug. 26, followed by a 4-0 victory over Elon at home on Sunday, Aug. 28.
  • Against the Phoenix, senior Catrina Atanda netted two of Clemson’s four goals. The midfielder from Belle Mead, N.J. now has three goals and six point on the season, which leads the Tiger team in both categories.
  • Against the Mountaineers, senior Kailen Sheridan posted seven saves in goal, earning her first start after returning from Rio, where she won an Olympic bronze medal as an alternate for Canada’s women’s national team, earlier in the week.
  • In addition to Atanda’s three goals, five other Tigers have one goal apiece on the season.
  • Six Clemson players have at least one assist on the season, including senior Jenna Weston and freshman Julie Mackin, who each have two.
  • Mackin was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 15-21 after scoring her first career goal in the Tigers’ 2-0 season-opening win at Auburn on Aug. 19, and then adding two assists in the team’s 3-1 home win over Georgia on Aug. 21.
  • Head Coach Eddie Radwanski is now in his sixth season at the helm of the Clemson program. Radwanski was named the NSCAA’s Southeast Region Coach of the Year in 2015.

South Carolina Notes:

  • The Gamecocks (3-0-1) most recently defeated NC State 3-0 at home on Aug. 25 and UCF 2-1 on the road on Aug. 28.
  • Savannah McCaskill leads the team in scoring with eight points on three goals and two assists.
  • Mika Krzeczowski has played 290 minutes in goal for the Gamecocks, posting 10 saves and allowing two goals on the season.

Series Notes:

  • Clemson has a 13-8-1 all-time advantage in the series against South Carolina, but in matches played in Columbia, the series record between the two teams is even at 5-5-1.
  • The Tigers won the most recent meeting between the two teams by a score of 2-1 on Aug. 28, 2015 in Clemson. Atanda and then-sophomore Shannon Horgan scored for the Tigers, while McCaskill netted the Gamecock goal in the contest. Sheridan picked up two saves and the win in goal for Clemson.
