• Clemson is ranked No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Preseason Poll.
• Clemson returns seven starters from last season’s Elite Eight team.
• The Tigers are led by team captains Oliver Shannon and Tanner Dieterich.

 Cal. State Fullerton Notes:

• The Titans dropped their only exhibition match of the preseason, a 2-0 loss to California.
• Cal. State Fullerton finished 10-9-4 overall and 4-3-3 in the Big West in 2016.
• Last season, the Titans advanced to the Big West Conference Tournament Championship but fell to CSUN 2-1, in 2 OT.

 Series Notes:

• Friday night’s match will be the regular season opener for both teams.
• The match will be the first meeting between the Tigers and Titans since 2001, when Cal. State Fullerton defeated Clemson 2-1 in California.
