Ninth-Ranked Wake Forest defeats Clemson 2-0

WINSTON-SALEM, NC–Scott Sealy and Ryan Caugherty both scored goals in leading ninth-ranked Wake Forest to a 2-0 win over Clemson in a men’s Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at Winston-Salem, NC Friday night.

With the win, Wake Forest improves to 9-3-1 overall, and 3-1 in the ACC. Clemson falls to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in league play. Wake Forest is ranked ninth by Soccer America and 15th by the NSCAA.

Wake Forest scored first at the 41:21 mark as Scott Sealy scored his 11th goal of the season with assists by mark Ellington and Michael Parkhurst.

The Deacons scored late with only 3:14 left to go in the match. Ryan Caugherty scored his first goal of the season with an assist by Ryan Solle.

Clemson will play host to Stetson on Wednesday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Tigers’ next action.
