CLEMSON, SC – Corbin Mills, Clemson’s stroke average leader this past season, has qualifed for the United States Public Links Championship. The national tournament will be held June 27 through July 2 at Bandon Dunes Golf Club in Bandon Dunes, OR.
Mills qualified after firing a five under par 139 at a qualifier at Furman University on June 6. He was second among the three qualifiers who played 36 holes in one day. Steven Liebler of Irmo was the top qualifier with a 137. It is the second consecutive year Mills has qualified for the US Public Links.
Mills, a native of Anderson, SC, led the Tiger team in stroke average and top 10 finishes this past year and was named to the Ping All-Region team.
Two Clemson golfers have won the US Public Links previously, Kevin Johnson in 1987 and D.J. Trahan in 2000. Trahan’s victory came in Portland, OR.
The winner of the United States Public Links Tournament traditionally receives a bid to the Masters.
