CLEMSON, SC – Clemson junior Corbin Mills is ranked seventh in the United States Amateur rankings and 14th in the Golfweek Sagarin College Rankings entering the spring 2012 season. The native of Easley, SC is one of just five golfers in the top 15 of both rankings.
Mills has 3400 points to rank seventh in the US Amateur rankings and has a 69.09 rating to rank 14th in the country in the Sagarin rankings. The other golfers in the top 15 of both are Patrick Cantlay of UCLA, Patrick Rodgers of Stanford, Chris Williams of Washington and Jordan Spieth of Texas.
Mills has a strong fall for the Tigers, highlighted by his victory at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate in early October. Mills had a 71.00 stroke average in four tournaments this past fall to lead the Tigers. He had eight scores of under par in his 12 rounds. He had Clemson’s best score of the day in eight of the 12 rounds as well. His top round was a 65 at the Jerry Pate, his career best round for the Tigers.
Clemson is ranked 15th as a team heading into the spring schedule. The Tigers open play Feb. 19 at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico.
