PACIFIC PALISADES, CA – Clemson women’s tennis players Ani Mijacika and Federica van Adrichem advanced to the second round of play at the 2007 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The Tiger doubles team won its opening round match-up, while Mijacika also reached the round of 16 in singles action. Competition will continue on Friday at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, CA with the next round of doubles and two rounds of singles.

Mijacika and Van Adrichem, seeded second in the tournament, defeated Notre Dame’s tandem of Brook Buck and Kelcy Tefft by an 8-4 margin and now boasts a 3-1 record for the fall season. They will face Amanda Fink and Gabriela Niculescu of Southern California in the quarterfinals.

In singles play, Mijacika advanced to the round of 16 after her opponent suffered an injury and could not complete the match. The Clemson sophomore had claimed the first set over #2-ranked Lindsey Nelson of Southern California, 6-1, before Nelson retired. Mijacika will play the winner of Georgia Tech’s Whitney McCray and Arkansas’ Ela Kaluder on Friday.
