Men’s Track & Field to Host Clemson Invitational

Meet Program

The men’s track & field team will play host to the Clemson Invitational this weekend at the school’s indoor facility. The meet will be in a scored team format, and the Tigers are one of 10 men’s squads set to compete on Friday and Saturday. The other schools entered are Appalachian State, Auburn, Charlotte, Furman, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, N.C. State, Wake Forest, and Western Carolina.

The action gets underway Friday with the distance medley relay, which will feature Clemson’s group of Tyrone Gayle, Itay Magidi. The weight throw, which will take place at 5:00 PM, will feature the Tigers’ Matt Feiling and Lydell Perry and Ryan Koontz.

Friday’s long jump will begin at 6:00 PM. Jason Bell, Mike Feathers, and George Fields will join Koontz in that event. Corey Brown and Travis Padgett headline the Tigers’ entries in the 60m dash. Also expected to race for the first time this season is football standout Jacoby Ford, a former sprint champion in Florida in high school.

The 5000m will conclude men’s action on Friday at 7:00 PM. Jay Lumpkins in the event.

On Saturday, the shot put and high jump competition will get the men’s action started. Joey O’Rourke will join Feathers, Feiling, and Berg in the shot put. Also at that time (11:00 AM), Fields and Koontz will compete in the high jump. Matt Clark, who saw his first action for Clemson in over a year last weekend at the Virginia Tech Invitational, headlines a group of four in the mile run. That will start approximately 11:50 AM.

Jason Bell, who ranks third on Clemson’s indoor triple jump list, will be the Tigers’ lone competitor Saturday in that event.

The final event of the weekend will be the 4x400m relay at approximately 3:20 PM. The Tigers’ A team of Brown, Porter, Swaggard, and Mills will compete in the first section of the 1600m relay.
