Men’s Soccer Wins ACC Spring Fling

April 20, 2004

Raleigh, NC – The Clemson Men’s Soccer team won all three of its matches last weekend in the Atlantic Coast Conference Spring Fling tournament held at SAS Park, home of the ACC Championships.

Clemson began the weekend by defeating Maryland, the 2003 ACC Regular Season Champion and NCAA Tournament Final Four Participant, by a score of 1-0. Steven Rhyne scored the lone goal in the match. Rhyne, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, will retain his senior playing status for the 2004 season.

In Clemson’s next match, the Tigers avenged an overtime loss in the Clemson/Nike Invitational by defeating Coastal Carolina 2-1. Rhyne scored the first goal, with freshman Adrian Chevannes scoring the game-winner.

Clemson ended the weekend with a 4-0 victory over Penn State. Tiger goals were scored by Justin Moore, Charlie Roberts, Stuart Holden, and Randy Albright.

Clemson will resume action when the players report for fall practice the second week in August.
