Men’s Soccer to Face Wake Forest in NCAA Round of 16

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson will play Wake Forest in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament’s Round of 16 at the W. Dennis Spry Soccer Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.

Clemson is ranked 14th by Soccer America and 13th by the NSCAA. The Tigers are ranked 14th by Soccertimes.com.

Clemson is 13-4-3 on the year. The Tigers are 2-3-1 in the ACC this season.

Dimelon Westfield is Clemson’s leading scorer with 45 points. He has 20 goals and five assists this season. Fabio Tambosi has 12 assists to lead the team. Westfield is the first Clemson player to score 20 goals or more in a season since 1998. Wojtek Krakowiak scored 31 goals during the 1998 season.

Wake Forest has a 15-1-4 record overall. The Deacons are ranked number one in the NSCAA poll and second by Soccer America. Jeremiah White leads the Deacons in scoring with 11 goals and five assists for 27 points.

The Tigers are making their 23rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers are tied for sixth in NCAA history for most appearances.

This will be the 26th meeting between Clemson and Wake Forest on the soccer field. Clemson leads the overall series 15-8-2. This season the two teams tied 2-2 on October 19.
