Men’s Soccer Downs Central Connecticut, 2-1

CLEMSON, SC–Mark Lisi scored what proved to be the winning goal midway in the first half as Clemson defeated Central Connecticut State 2-1 in a men’s intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Wednesday night.

With the win, the Tigers improve their record to 6-1 overall, while Central Connecticut State falls to 1-3-2 this season. Clemson is ranked fourth in the Soccer America poll and ninth in the NSCAA listing.

Nathan Rawlins scored his second goal of the season at the 15:32 mark with an assist by Bower. Bower took the first shot that deflected off the crossbar and Rawlins fired the ball in from close range.

Lisi scored his goal at the 27:53 mark. Jeremy Iwaskowiec and John Wilson were credited with the assists. From the left side, Wilson centered the ball to Iwaskowiec. Iwaskowiec sends the ball to Lisi, who scored from the middle of the box.

Central Connecticut State scored at the 82:44 point into the game. Mike Hurczyn the Blue Devils’ goalkeeper kicked the ball from midfield, and Sean Duzant headed the ball into the net.

Clemson will play host to ACC-foe N.C. State Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Tigers’ next action.
