Charlottesville, VA – The Tigers’ men’s cross country team finished fourth Saturday at the 54th annual ACC Championships held at the Panorama Farms course. Virginia (32 points) held off N.C. State (39) for the team championship, while Chris Kollar of the Wolfpack team claimed the individual trophy.

The Tigers had a total of 137 points and posted their best team finish since the 2003 season. Clemson was fifth as a team a year ago, despite having Itay Magidi win the individual championship.

Matt Clark led the Tigers’ individual finishers Saturday with an eighth-place showing. He was named All-ACC for the second time in his career in cross country. He was runner-up in 2005. Clark had a time of 24:22.2 Saturday at the 8000m course.

The Marietta, GA native had an 8K time of 24:55.1 and has been one of the team’s top scorers in the last three meets this season. He improved his time by over a minute from last season at the conference championships.

Matt Bruce was actually the #3 scorer for the Tigers. The freshman posted a 28th-place finish with a time of 25:03.7. Finishing close behind in 31st was junior Bryce Iverson, an All-ACC performer a year ago. Iverson’s time was 25:08.4 on Saturday.

Jonathan Sunde, a walk-on from Charlotte, NC, was the fifth and final scorer at ACCs for Bob Pollock’s squad. He had a time of 25:44.7 in his first-ever trip to the conference championship meet. Will Noble (56th), Brian Soder (58th), and Chad Holt (83rd) also competed for the Tigers this weekend.
