Maryland Defeats Clemson 3-2 in Overtime

COLLEGE PARK, MD­-Rodney Wallace scored early in the overtime period as Maryland defeated Clemson 3-2 in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s soccer match at College Park, MD Friday night.

With the win, Maryland improves to 4-4-2 overall, and 1-3 in the ACC. Clemson is now 4-6-1 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Wallace scored at the 93:37 mark, 6:23 left in the first overtime period to give the Terrapins the win. This was his first goal of the season.

Maryland scored early in the match as Billy Cortes scored his second goal of the season in the ninth minute with an assist by Stephen King.

Clemson tied the score early in the second half at the 48:30 mark as Tate Parrish sent a corner kick in the box and Greg Eckhardt headed the ball in the nets for his first goal of the year.

The Tigers took a lead in the 64th minute. Tommy Drake scored off a misclear by a Maryland defender and beat the Terrapin Keeper Thorne Holder to his left for his second goal of the season.

Maryland evened the score at the 67:57 mark as Drew Yates scored his fifth goal of the year with assists by Rich Costanzo and Stephen King.
