Mark Rubich, First Soccer All-American Passes Away

CLEMSON, SC—Mark Rubich who was Clemson’s first All-American men’s soccer player passed away on March 12, 2014 at the age of 67.   Rubich played the position of forward for the Tigers in 1967-69. He was named an All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in 1968.   He was also named first-team All-ACC in 1968 and 1969, making him the first Clemson player to earn first-team all-conference honors. He was also named to the NSCAA All-South team in 1968 and 1969.     For his career he scored 23 goals and had nine assists.   He was a history major at Clemson.
