Clemson, SC – Women’s track & field standouts Patricia Mamona and Liane Weber were named to the 2009 Division I All-Academic Team, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Both competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships this past season, before red-shirting the outdoor campaign. Both were also selected to the All-ACC Academic Indoor Team in June.
Mamona, a junior from Lisbon, Portugal, has a 3.49 cumulative GPA in health science. She was a two-time All-ACC performer indoors for Clemson. She was runner-up in the conference in the pentathlon and third place in the triple jump. She also went on to compete in both events at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Mamona is slated to compete in the triple jump at the Under-23 European Championships this week in Lithuania.
Weber, a junior from Wangen, Germany, boasts a 3.79 cumulative GPA in health science. She was also named second-team Academic All-District III by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) this year.
