MacIver Named ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson junior goalkeeper Sandy MacIver was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

The Winsford, England native earned a pair of shutout road wins at No. 10 Florida State (1-0) and at Pitt (2-0) last week. She registered a season-high six saves in the Tigers upset of the Seminoles, while keeping Florida State, which entered the game averaging 2.25 goals per game, scoreless for the just the third time this season. MacIver owns six shutouts this season, including three in ACC play.

For the season, MacIver leads the ACC in shutouts per game (.60), while ranking fifth in goals against average (.59)

The Tigers return to Historic Riggs Field on Saturday, Oct. 13 for a Senior Day match up against No. 17 Duke (10-2-2, 4-1-1 ACC). Saturday’s matchup against the Blue Devils is set for 5 p.m., and will stream on ACCN Extra.
