Listen to the Final Call of the Clemson vs. Maryland Men’s Game and the Clemson vs. Florida State Women’s Game

March 5, 2008

The weekend of March 1-2, 2008 will be remembered for a long time by Clemson basketball fans. That weekend, the Clemson men’s and women’s teams both established school records for comeback victories in ACC play. The comebacks took place just 24 hours apart and were both executed on the road on the opponent’s Senior Night. Both were decided with dramatic shots inside the last three seconds. Even the scores were very similar.

On Saturday night in Tallahassee, FL, Morganne Campbell scored a rebound goal at the buzzer to give Clemson a 72-70 victory on Florida State’s Senior Night. Florida State had beaten Clemson by a decisive margin in the first game and took a 14-point lead at intermission. The previous largest comeback in an ACC game by a Clemson Lady Tiger team was 13 points against Virginia in a game at Clemson in 2003-04.

Then on Sunday night, the Tigers overcame a 20-point deficit in the second half to defeat Maryland, 73-70. Terrence Oglesby made a three-point shot with 2.3 seconds left to provide the game winner. It was the largest deficit at any point in a game overcome to gain victory in any ACC game in Clemson history. The previous record was 15 points in a win over Duke at Clemson in 1994-95.
