CLEMSON, S.C. – Junior Marie-Alexandre Leduc received a bid to play in the 2018 NCAA Singles Championship, while Leduc and fellow junior Fernanda Navarro were selected for the NCAA Doubles Championships. The NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships will be held May 23-28 in Winston-Salem, N.C., with draws being announced at a later date.
Leduc is ranked 23rd nationally in singles, according to the ITA poll released on April 24. The junior from Saguenay, Quebec has a 21-10 overall record in 2017-18, including a 12-7 mark in dual matches, all at the No. 1 singles position. Leduc has nine wins over nationally-ranked opponents on the year. During the fall 2017 season, Leduc advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles draw at the prestigious Oracle/ITA National Fall Championships in Indian Wells, Calif.
Leduc and Navarro, a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, are 19-8 in doubles play in 2017-18, with an 11-5 record in dual matches and a 6-2 ledger in ACC dual matches, all at No. 1 doubles. The pair has four wins over nationally-ranked doubles teams. Leduc and Navarro reached the doubles quarterfinals at the ITA Carolinas Regional in Chapel Hill, N.C. during the fall of 2017.
On Monday, May 1, the Tigers earned an invitation to play in the 2018 NCAA Team Championships. It was the 17th consecutive NCAA tournament bid for the program, and the 19th bid in 21 seasons under Head Coach Nancy Harris. Clemson travels to Nashville, Tenn. for the NCAA First & Second Rounds, for the third-straight year. The Tigers face Ohio State in the first round on Friday, May 11 at 11 a.m. CT (12 p.m. ET).
