Leduc, Navarro Selected for NCAA Doubles Championship

INDIANAPOLIS – Seniors Marie-Alexandre Leduc and Fernanda Navarro were selected for the 2019 NCAA Doubles Championships taking place May 20-25 in Orlando, Florida. The draws will be announced at a later date.

Double Trouble

Leduc and Navarro are 28-8 in doubles play in 2018-19 with a 16-5 record in dual matches. The duo’s dominance in doubles action is evident in their No. 10 ranking in the most recent ITA poll (April 23). The pair went 8-6 against nationally ranked teams this season with five top 30 victories, highlighted by back-to-back wins over top 10 opponents (No. 7 pair from LSU and No. 9 pair from Winthrop).

The seniors capped their fall doubles season with a historic victory at the 2018 Oracle ITA Fall National Championships. Heading into the Championship as a 12-seed, the duo ran the table, ultimately downing the 21-seeded tandem from Pepperdine in two matches (7-6[5], 6-2). With the win, Leduc and Navarro became the first duo in Clemson program history to win the fall doubles title.

The pair is very familiar with the NCAA Doubles Championship having competed in the tournament a season ago. Leduc and Navarro battled through the first two rounds of competition before falling to the No. 9 pair from Duke in the round of 16.
