Clemson, SC – The Lady Tiger track & field team will compete at the ACC Outdoor Championships this weekend in College Park, MD. The three-day meet will begin Thursday with four events, including the first day of the heptathlon. Clemson is traveling 27 student-athletes this weekend for the conference meet.

The Lady Tigers finished fifth at the ACC Indoor Championships, which were held February at Clemson’s facility. Clemson produced its first ACC Champion since the 2005 outdoor meet in pentathlete Liane Weber. She will certainly be among the favorites in the heptathlon, which will begin Thursday and conclude Friday.

The 10,000m run, high jump, hammer throw, and javelin throw will also take place Thursday. Clemson features a pair of regional qualifiers, Della Clark and Rochelle Kokayko, in the hammer. Clark was an All-ACC performer in the event last season. The Lady Tigers also have the conference’s second-ranked javelin performer in freshman Linda Buchholz.

The prelims for the running events will be held Friday, beginning with the 1500m at 3:00 PM. In addition to the heptathlon, the women’s discus, long jump, and pole vault will be held Friday at the Terrapins’ Kehoe Track Complex. Polly Hardy and Krystal Barringer will lead a strong group of high hurdlers in their preliminaries at 3:30 PM. The 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 400m hurdles will also feature at least one Lady Tiger entry on Friday.

Saturday’s field events will include the shot put and triple jump. The Lady Tigers will have a pair of strong performers in the triple jump, freshmen Patricia Mamona and Nakeisha Wineglass. A native of Portugal, Mamona was All-ACC indoors in the triple jump. Wineglass reached a regional-qualifying jump last weekend.

Finals for all running events will be held Saturday, in addition to the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. The 4x100m relay team will consist of Hardy, Ra’Sheena Parker, Christy Brown, and Kristine Scott. That group posted a strong time in its first effort together last weekend at the Solid Orange Classic.
