The Clemson women’s track & field team will resume its indoor season this weekend with a trip to the Kentucky Invitational. The Lady Tigers competed December 1-2 at the Clemson Opener to kick off the 2007 indoor slate. Clemson will begin competition Friday at the Nutter Field House with the weight throw at 5:00 PM.
Della Clark certainly was a highlight from the Lady Tigers’ first indoor event this season. The senior from Acworth, GA posted an NCAA provisional qualifying effort with a weight throw mark of 65’6″, which was a personal best. She ranks second in school history in the 20-pound weight throw. Joining her in that event Friday will be Rochelle Kokayko and Catheryne Porter.
At 6:00 PM, Beth Jordan, Helen Kirkland will compete in the pole vault for Clemson. At the same time, Michelle Rogers, and Anastasia Wilson will be entered in the triple jump competition. Capping off Friday’s action at 8:30 PM in the discus throw will be Porter.
Saturday’s action will get underway at 10:30 AM with the high jump. Anni Korhonen, a junior, leads a trio of Lady Tigers in that competition. She will be joined by Ra’Sheena Parker, and Kristine Scott will compete in the 60m dash. Barringer and Polly Hardy will be in the 60m hurdles.
At 1:15 on the second day of competition, Patrice McMillan will run the mile. Ope Sobanjo are in the 400m at 2:15, while Thea Dix, Candice Johnson, and Ashley Vaughn are entered in the 800m run at 3:00 PM. Barringer, Golladay, Good, Hardy, Parker, and Scott will run the 200m dash at 3:35, while Lauren Klas and Laura Laughlin are in the 3000m race at 4:15 PM. Finishing the competition Saturday afternoon at approximately 4:50 will be two 4x400m relay teams for the Lady Tigers.
