CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team rebounded well from yesterday’s loss by sweeping the Charlotte 49ers in action today at Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. With the win, the Lady Tigers improve to 4-5 on the season.
The Lady Tigers swept in convincing fashion winning each match in straight sets. In number-one singles action, Alix Lacelarie improved her overall singles record to 14-9 by defeating Charlotte’s Alice Hansen 6-0, 6-1. Iaona Paun earned a win for the Lady Tigers as she defeated Jana Cucciniello in number-three singles and improved her overall singles record to 6-3 on the season. In number-five singles, Clemson’s Laurence Jayet defeated the 49ers’ Lauren Hastings 6-1, 6-2. With the win, Jayet improved her overall singles record to 15-8.
Clemson dominated the doubles matches as well as the Lady Tigers won all three contests. Clemson’s number-one doubles team of Jayet and Lacelarie defeated Charlotte’s Hansen and Swain 8-5, to improve their overall doubles record to 11-6.
