CLEMSON, SC – Lady Tiger Basketball Head Coach Itoro Coleman will take a temporary leave of absence in anticipation of the birth of her third child, she announced on Tuesday. Coleman has tabbed Defensive Coordinator Karleen Thompson as acting Head Coach until her return.
“I feel that the team is in more than capable hands with Karleen Thompson,” said Coleman. “I have full trust that her experience and decision-making will give our team a chance to be successful. I am eager to return, but it is in my family’s best interest to temporarily step away at this time.”
Coleman hopes to return by the end of November, although an exact date has not yet been set. The leave of absence is due to standard doctor-recommended maternity leave, and is not the result of any complications or emergencies with the pregnancy. Coleman’s due date is November 10.
