Hewson Named to All-ACC Team for Second Time

Clemson, S.C.—Clemson sophomore Alice Hewson was named to the All-ACC Women’s Golf Team on Thursday.   Hewson also made the team last year and is the first two-time All-ACC selection in Clemson women’s golf history.

Hewson finished eighth at the NCAA Regional at Athens, Georgia on Wednesday, leading Kelley Hester’s team to a fifth place finish that qualified the team for the NCAA National Tournament for the first time in the four year history of the program.   Hewson and her teammates begin play at the NCAA National Tournament on May 19 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

Hewson ranks 23rd in the nation in the latest Golfstat computer rankings. She has a team best 71.82 stroke average that ranks sixth in the ACC. She has six top 10 finishes, six rounds in the 60s and 16 rounds at par or better.   She has scored 75 or better in 32 of her 33 rounds so far this year and her score has counted toward the Clemson team score in 63 consecutive rounds over two years.

Nationally, Hewson ranks third in the nation in putts/round with 29.94, 10th in total birdies with 110, 12th in par four scoring average at 4.02 and 14th in scoring average in the final round at 71.27. Her 110 birdies are a Clemson season record and her 71.82 scoring average is also at a school record pace.
