Golf Travels To Bulls Bay

Clemson will compete in the Hootie’s @ Bulls Bay Intercollegiate March 26-28 at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Mount Pleasant, SC. The 54 hole event will run Sunday through Tuesday at the par 71 course that is 7189 yards in length. This will be just the second par 71 course the Tigers have played in tournament competition this year.

Clemson will take two seniors, two freshmen and a sophomore to the 15-team event. Leading the way will be seniors Brian Duncan and Stephen Poole, the top two stroke average performers on the Tiger team this year. Duncan has a 73.80 stroke average for his 15 rounds this year, while Poole stands at 74.11. Poole is coming off an 11th place finish at the Hall of Fame Invitational in Houston last weekend, the second best finish of his senior year.

David May and Phillip Mollica will be the freshmen in the Clemson lineup. May is one of two Tigers to play in every tournament this year and he has a 75.05 stroke average for the year, third best on the team. He finished 24th at the Hall of Fame Invitational, including a 72 in the second round that proved to be the top individual round by a Tiger golfer in that event. Mollica did not play at the tournament in Houston, but has a 75.08 stroke average for the year. He has seven rounds at 75 or better in his 12 rounds so far this year.

Tanner Ervin rounds out the starting lineup for the Tigers. Ervin has not played since the Puerto Rico Classic in February. He had a 14th place finish at the Jerry Pate in the first tournament of the year. Ervin is from Mount Pleasant and Bulls Bay is his home course.

The Tigers finished 12th at the Hootie @ Bulls Bay last yaer with an 896 score. Brian Duncan was the top performer with a 220 score and a 20th place finish. He shot a final round 79.
