NORMAN, Okla. — The Florida Gators are the top-ranked men’s golf team in the country in the latest GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll. Florida – who spent much of last season season ranked No. 1 – received nine first-place votes to outdistance SEC rival Georgia, who claimed four first-place votes to sit in second.
Clemson checks into the poll at third and is followed by Arizona State and Georgia Tech. Oklahoma State collected two first-place to enter the poll at No. 6 while New Mexico and Kentucky claimed one first-place ballot apiece to rank seventh and eighth, respectively. UCLA received two first-place votes to place ninth. Texas completes the top 10.
Auburn enters the poll at No. 11 and is followed by Arizona – who claimed the final first-place vote, UNLV, TCU and Tennessee. Oklahoma ranks 16th while Southern California, Brigham Young, California and Wake Forest round out the top 20.
South Carolina is ranked No. 21 with Washington, Duke, Minnesota and Vanderbilt completing the top 25.
The GCAA/Precept Coaches Poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches at Division I institutions. All are members of the Golf Coaches Association of America. Previous ranking reflects last season’s NCAA Championship finish.
