Golf Finishes Tied for Second at Puerto Rico Classic

El Grande, Puerto Rico – The Clemson golf team set a new school record by finishing first or second in its seventh straight tournament by taking second place at the Puerto Rico Classic, which concluded on Tuesday at the par 72 Westin Rio Mar Beach Resort and Country Club. The Tigers shot a collective 286 (-2) on Tuesday to finish with an 872 (+8), tied with Minnesota and Texas. Oklahoma State won the event with an 862 (-2).

Individually, Gregg Jones led the Tigers with a third place finish, his best of the season. D.J. Trahan recorded another top-10 finish by placing ninth. The best Tiger performance in the final round was by Matt Hendrix, who shot a 70 and finished 17th overall. Jones posted a 71, Trahan shot a 72 and Jack Ferguson and Ben Duncan rounded out the day with 73s.

Clemson will next compete in the Las Vegas Intercollegiate March 7-9 in Las Vegas, NV.
