Four Tigers Named Academic All-ACC

Clemson, S.C.—Graduate Carson Young, sophomore Bryson Nimmer and freshmen Doc Redman and William Nottingham all were named to the Academic All-ACC team on Monday. It tied for the most selections in Clemson history and marked the first time two true freshmen made the team.

Young, a marketing major who graduated in May, was named to the team for the third time. He was an All-ACC player on the course this year as well thanks to his 71.28 stroke average and five top 10 finishes. He was the medalist at the Furman Invitational in March.

Nimmer, a management major, was named first-team All-ACC on the course and in the classroom for the second straight year. He had a 71.33 stroke average this year and had seven top 10 finishes, second most on the team. He added 11 rounds in the 60s to tie for the team lead, and was Clemson’s best player in the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Regional.

Redman, who was named a third-team All-American on the course last week, finished with a 70.77 stroke average to go with a Dean’s List grade point average in his freshman year. The mathematical sciences major had a team best eight top 10 finishes and a team best 22 under-par rounds. He became the first freshman in school history to win two tournaments.

Nottingham, a pre-business major, joined classmate Redman on the team. He finished with a 73.52 stroke average for the year. He shot a nine under par 62 at the Wolfpack Spring Open on April 14 to set the school record for the low round. He had five top 10 finishes, including three of his last four.
