CLEMSON, SC – Crawford Reeves became the first Clemson golfer named to the Academic All-ACC team four consecutive years on Friday when the league announced its academic all-star team for the 2012-13 academic year.
Billy Kennerly, Miller Capps and Stephen Behr were also named to the team, giving Clemson four representatives, tied for the most in the league with Georgia Tech and Duke. It was also the most Academic All-ACC selections in one year for the Clemson program.
It was the second year that Kennerly, a sophomore from Alpharetta, GA had made the team, while it was the first year for Capps and Behr.
Reeves was one of four ACC golfers named to the team for a fourth straight year. He was joined by Evan Beck of Wake Forest, Brinson Paolini of Duke and Julian Suri of Duke.
All four of the Clemson golfers named on Friday were starters for Larry Penley‘s team. Reeves, a native of Greenville, SC was a four year starter for the Tigers on the course for four Clemson NCAA Tournament teams. He was Clemson’s top player in three of his four NCAA Regional Tournaments.
Kennerly was Clemson’s top golfer at the NCAA Tournament this year. Behr, a native of Florence, SC, was the top golfer on the team in terms of stroke average this year, while Capps, from Denver, NC was second.
The Clemson golf team posted a team GPA of over 3.0 for the fourth straight semester this past spring. The team also had an APR score of 1000, the best of any program at Clemson. The Clemson golf team and the Tiger football team were both recognized as one of the top 10 programs in the nation in their respective sport for APR scores.
