Former Clemson All-American Julie Coin Competing at Roland Garros

Five-time All-American Julie Coin (2002-05), who led Clemson to two Final Fours during her playing career, will participate in the French Open this week. Coin, a native of Amiens, France, will participate in the doubles and mixed doubles events.

Coin will team up with fellow Frenchwoman Mathilde Johansson in the Main Draw doubles. They will take on Shuai Peng and Jie Zheng of China in the first round, beginning Tuesday.

She is also matched up with Nicholas Mahut, also of France, for the mixed doubles. Mahut is best known for his match with former Georgia star John Isner at the 2010 Wimbledon. The pair played a five-set match which lasted for more than 11 hours, a 6-4, 3-6, 6-7(7), 7-6(3), 70-68 win in favor of Isner.

Coin has competed in seven of the last eight Grand Slam events. Her best career finish was in the 2008 US Open, when she knocked off the world’s No. 1 player, Ana Ivanovic. Coin advanced to the third round.
