WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Members of the Clemson women’s tennis team competed at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships held on the campus of Wake Forest on Friday. The tournament feeds into the ITA Indoor National Championships, held from Nov. 6-9 in New Haven, CT. Five Tigers won their main draw singles matches to advance to the second round, matching Duke and North Carolina for the most players in the second round.
Additionally, Ina Hadziselimovic won two doubles matches to advance to the final sixteen. Caroline Magnusson were not as fortunate, falling 8-4 to an NC State duo of Lenka Hojckova and Sandhya Nagaraj.
Bek, the second-seeded player in the field, advanced as her opponent withdrew due to injury. #81 Ina Hadziselimovic ousted Virginia Berry from Davidson, 6-2, 6-2, and defeated Jennifer Stone of North Carolina, 6-2, 6-3.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday with five singles matches and a round of doubles. Complete results are below, and Saturday’s schedule can be found at the tournament home page.
