Ferguson Named to Ping All-South Region Team

Clemson, SC – Clemson senior Jack Ferguson has been named to the Ping All- South Region team, an honor selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The announcement was made Tuesday afternoon in Norman, OK, the headquarters of the Golf Coaches Association of America.

It was the third consecutive year Ferguson has been named to the team, which is comprised of ACC, Southern Conference and Big South student-athletes from the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

Ferguson led the Tigers in stroke average this year with a 73.42 figure. He had three top 10 finishes, including a fourth-place finish at the ACC Tournament in April. He led the team in rounds at par or better with 13, and rounds at 75 or better with 30 in 36 rounds.

The native of Seneca, SC, who graduated from Clemson earlier this month, finished his career with a 72.41 stroke average, fifth best in Clemson history. Only former Clemson All-Americans D.J. Trahan, John Engler, Lucas Glover and Matt Hendrix have better career figures than Ferguson, who ranks just ahead of current PGA Tour veteran Jonathan Byrd (72.48) on the all-time Clemson list.

Ferguson, who was also named All-ACC for the third time this season, was joined on the Ping All-South Region team by Ryan Blaum of Duke, Roberto Castro of Georgia Tech, Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State, Kalle Edberg of Augusta State, Scott Jamieson of Augusta State, Dustin Johnson of Coastal Carolina, Aron Price of Georgia Southern, Kyle Reifers of Wake Forest, Webb Simpson of Wake Forest, Nathan Smith of Duke, Chan Song of Georgia Tech, Nicholas Thompson of Georgia Tech, Emmett Turner of Augusta State and Martin Ureta of North Carolina.
