Eidukonyte Advances to Singles Final Sunday at the 2014 Collegiate Clay Court Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C.- After beating three ranked players in four matches, Clemson junior Joana Eidukonyte has advanced to Sunday’s final in singles play at the Collegiate Clay Court Invitational in Orlando, Fla.

Eidukonyte began Thursday’s opening round of 32 with a win over 111th-ranked Monique Albuquerque of the University of Miami 7-5, 6-4.

In Friday’s round of 16 Eidukonyte continued her winning ways with a win over Virginia Tech’s Elena Cerezo-Cordina 6-3, 6-3.  Later on Friday, Eidukonyte defeated 87th-ranked Francesca Fusinato of Virginia Tech 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals.

Saturday in the semifinals, Eidukonyte defeated 71st-ranked Lina Lileikite of Miami 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, her third win over a ranked opponent in the tournament.

Eidukonyte will face her fourth ranked player in five matches and her third Miami Hurricane when she takes on 18th-ranked Stephanie Wagner in Sunday’s final. The match will be played on center court at 9 a.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN app.
