Cross Country to Open 2017 at Carolina Challenge

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson cross country team will make their 2017 debut at the University of South Carolina’s Carolina Challenge meet, which will take place at the Sandhill REC course in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday. The Carolina Challenge is the first of four meets before heading to Louisville, Ky., for the ACC Championships.

“The Carolina Challenge will give us a better understand what kind of shape we are in,” said head coach Mark Elliott. “Our expectation is to compete at a high level within the conference every year and Saturday’s meet will help us figure out how can we improve.”

The Tigers’ women’s team was picked to finish 13th in the ACC this season, while the men were slated to finish 14th, based on voting by the league’s head coaches. Last season, the Clemson women finished tied for sixth at the ACC Championship, while the men finished 14th.
