Crawford Reeves Fires Opening Round 64 at South Carolina Amateur

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson senior Crawford Reeves fired an opening round 64 and has a two shot lead at the 81st annual South Carolina Amateur at Spartanburg Country Club in Spartanburg, SC.  Reeves was Clemson’s number-two ranked golfer this past season when he was named All-Region by the Golf Coaches Association.  He is also a three-time academic All-ACC team member.

Reeves, a native of Greenville, SC, has a two shot lead over four golfers, including former Clemson teammate Jacob Burger, who had an opening round 66.  Two other Clemson golfers, Stephen Behr and Cody Proveaux, who will both be freshmen this season, had opening rounds of one under par 69.  They were two of 17 golfers who shot under par on the par 70 course on Thursday.

Reeves is trying to keep the South Carolina Amateur Championship in the family.  Last year, his brother Austin Reeves, captured the South Carolina Amateur title at the Colleton River Course near Hilton Head, SC.
