Jake Combs

Position: Graduate Assistant • Second Season

Jake Combs is in his second season as Clemson Softball’s Graduate Assistant after serving as the Volunteer Assistant Coach at Indiana – his alma mater – during the 2019 season. Prior to serving as the Volunteer Assistant Coach, Combs spent the previous four years as a Student Manager for the Hoosiers.

In 2019, Combs and the Indiana coaching staff led the Hoosiers to their best start in program history (14-0), best record since 2011 (36-21) and best non-conference mark since 1986 (26-8). IU earned a spot in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll, the first ranking for the Hoosiers since 1996. Indiana went on to spend six straight weeks ranked, picking up wins against two top-10 teams in No. 6 Georgia (Feb. 10) and at No. 10 LSU (March 1), also a first in program history.

Combs’ primary duties at Indiana included day-to-day operations such as coordinating camps and clinics, assisting with practice planning and game day preparation, throwing batting practice, assisting with team equipment, coordinating travel and scouting reports.

A native of Carmel, Indiana, Combs joined Indiana’s Softball program in the summer of 2014 as a Student Manager during his freshman year. In addition to his experience with the Hoosiers, Combs worked in travel-ball with Indiana Magic Gold and Indiana Dreams.

Combs graduated from Indiana in May 2018 with a degree in Sport Marketing & Management.
