CLEMSON, SC – The 13th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team opens the 2014 season on Saturday at 9 a.m. against Troy, and will take on Charleston Southern at 4 p.m at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center. The Tigers (0-0) return six players from last season’s squad that earned wins over six top-25 opponents and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. Live scoring will be available for the matches on ClemsonTigers.com, and supplemental coverage will appear on the official social media accounts of the program. The program is located @ClemsonWTennis on both Twitter and Instagram, as well as on Facebook. Four Tigers are included in the ITA preseason rankings, led by junior Beatrice Gumulya at 44th. Junior Romy Koelzer is 51st, senior All-American Yana Koroleva is 78th, and sophomore Tristen Dewar is 103rd. Head coach Nancy Harris opens her 17th season at Clemson, with 14 trips to the NCAA Tournament under her belt, including 12 in a row. Under Harris’ watch, the Tigers have advanced to at least the Sweet 16 in six of the last seven seasons, and eight of the last ten. Clemson is 1-0 all-time against Charleston Southern, and holds a 5-0 mark against Troy all-time.
