PACIFIC PALISADES, CA – Clemson women’s tennis player Carol Salge fell in the final round of the qualifying singles bracket on Wednesday at the 2006 Riviera/ITA All-American. The Tiger junior won her round of 64 match-up against Paula Mesterova of Loyola Marymount (7-6(3), 6-1) and then defeated Oklahoma’s Gaby Baker in the second round by a 7-6, 5-7, 6-2 score. She suffered her first loss of the season to Megan Falcon of LSU, 6-0, 6-2.
Salge, with partner Federica van Adrichem, will begin doubles competition on Thursday in the main draw of the tournament, held at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, CA. Clemson’s ninth-ranked duo will face Arizona’s team of Roxanne Clark and Kady Pooler at 10:00, Pacific Time.
