Clemson’s Julie Coin Garners ACC Women’s Tennis Player Of The Week Honors

CLEMSON, SC – Julie Coin, a sophomore from Amiens, France, was named the ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 17, 2003. Coin posted a 4-0 record in singles and doubles matches last weekend.

In singles play, Coin defeated UNC Greensboro’s Lindsey Peel 6-1, 6-0 at flight one. She also helped the then-#27 Tigers to a 6-1 upset over then-#18 South Carolina, recording a 6-3, 6-1 victory over the Gamecocks’ 93rd-ranked Kathy Boyanovich at flight one.

In doubles action, Coin and Laurence Jayet defeated the Spartans’ Peel and Kate LaCoste 8-0 at number one doubles. Against South Carolina, the duo won an 8-4 decision over Boyanovich and Magda Wojdylo at flight one.

Coin has an 18-2 overall singles record and is 6-0 in dual matches this season and is currently ranked 23rd by the ITA in singles. She is 12-3 overall in doubles (5-1 in dual matches) and with Jayet, is currently ranked 42nd in doubles.
