Clemson’s Julie Coin Garners ACC Women’s Tennis Performer Of The Week Honors

GREENSBORO, NC – Clemson’s Julie Coin was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Performer of the Week for the week of Feb. 23, 2004 as announced by the ACC on Monday. Coin led the Tigers, winning two singles matches and one doubles match in the 13th-ranked Tigers’ 6-1 victory over Iowa and 6-1 loss to #6 Vanderbilt.

Against the Commodores, Coin defeated #39 Audra Falk by a score of 6-1, 6-4 at the flight one singles position. The junior from Amiens, France downed Iowa’s Meg Racette in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1. In doubles play, Coin and teammate Maria Brito won an 8-4 decision over the Hawkeyes’ Mintz and Racette at flight one.

Coin, currently ranked ninth by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in singles, is 6-1 on the season. She and Brito, ranked 12th by the ITA in doubles, have accumulated a 4-1 overall record in doubles play for the Tigers.
