Clemson’s Josipa Bek To Play in ITA Indoor National Championships

Nov. 4, 2009

Singles Draw

Clemson sophomore women’s tennis player, Josipa Bek, will travel to New Haven, CT for the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championship from Nov. 5-8 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. Bek, the 9th-ranked player in the nation, qualified for the tournament by winning the ITA Carolina Regional Championship in late October. Live scoring will be available at ItaTennis.com.

Bek will try to continue Clemson’s two-year streak of placing a player in the finals, as Ani Mijacika was the runner-up in 2007 and 2008. Bek enters the tournament as a winner of eight of her past nine matches, including four against ranked opponents. She is 5-0 in three-set matches this season.

These championships, held at Yale University, feature a 32-player singles field and 16-team doubles field for men and women, including: champions from Wilson/ITA Regional Championships held across the country during October, the ITA National Small College champions, the winners of the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships, and at-large and wild card selections made by the ITA National Tournament Committee.
