CLEMSON, SC – Clemson women’s tennis players Estefania Balda and Carol Salge are scheduled to begin competition on Tuesday in the qualifying rounds of the 2007 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. This year’s event will again be held at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, CA.

In the doubles bracket, Balda and Salge will take on Western Michigan’s team of Kirsten Pahl and Priyanka Parekh at 1:00 pm, EST. The duo reached the finals of the Furman Fall Classic over the Sept. 28-29 weekend and owns a 2-1 record for the fall season. Balda and Salge were paired six times last year in doubles with a 3-3 ledger in those contests.

Both student-athletes will be playing in their first singles matches of the season on Tuesday. Salge will open against Danielle Steinberg of Arizona at 6:45 (EST), while Balda’s match versus Pepperdine’s Sylvia Kosakowski is also slated for a 6:45 start time.

Salge is ranked 65th in the preseason Fila/ITA Tennis singles poll after compiling a 17-15 overall record last year. Balda, who boasted a 16-8 record in the 2007 spring season, is listed at #58.
