Clemson Women’s Track And Field To Compete At ACC Championships

The Clemson women’s track and field team will open competition at the 2003 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday in Chapel Hill, NC. The Lady Tigers will contend for their second conference title at the Dick Taylor Track in Eddie Smith Fieldhouse this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22.

Under current head coach Marcia Noad, the Lady Tigers have placed second (2001) and fourth (2002) at the ACC Championships. Overall, Clemson women’s track and field has won one ACC Championship (1992), and has finished second on eight occasions. Three Lady Tigers have earned meet MVP honors. Most recently, Jamine Moton was tabbed indoor MVP in 2001 after winning the shot put and weight throw.

Entering this weekend’s meet, 10 Lady Tigers are ranked among the ACC’s leaders in their respective events. Keshia Haughton, Silja Ulfarsdottir, Randi Hinton, Shakirah Rutherford, Denise Cruse, Gisele Oliveira and Joana Costa have turned in some of the league’s best marks this season.
