Clemson Women’s Tennis to Play in ITA Regional Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Clemson women’s tennis team will begin play in the ITA Carolina Regional Championships, held at Wake Forest University, from Oct. 22-26. The tournament will feed in to the ITA National Indoor Championships, held in New Haven, CT from Nov. 6-9.

The Regional Championship features players from all schools located in North and South Carolina. In singles, there is a 32-player qualifying round. Players who win two matches will be entered into the 64-player main draw.

Freshman Caroline Magnusson is the only Tiger in the qualification tournament, drawing Jennifer Ansari of Appalachian State in the first round.

Six tigers are entered into the Main Draw for singles, including Ina Hadziselimovic and Keri Wong are both 9-16 overall seeds. Hadziselimovic will play Virginia Berry of Davidson and Wong will match up with Audrey LePottier of East Carolina.

Laurianne Henry will play Laurel Bolesky of Coastal Carolina, and freshman Estefania Balda will play Ryann Cutillo of Wake Forest.

In doubles action, Bek and Hadziselimovic, ranked 14th in the nation, are the #2 seed. They have a first round bye, and will play the winner of Miki Bunea and Lexi Bolesky of COASTAL Carolina and Chelsea Chatman and Kalin Jarvis from Winston-Salem State.

Wong will team with Magnusson to play Andrea Rivera and Alex Zinn from Charlotte, while Henry and Ciolkowski will team up to play Gina Suarez-Malaguti and Zoe DeBruycker from North Carolina.
