Clemson Women’s Tennis Team To Play Host To Chattanooga and Charlotte

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team will play host to Chattanooga on Friday and Charlotte on Saturday at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center in Clemson. The match against Chattanooga is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, while the Tigers will take on the 49ers on Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.

Clemson has a 1-1 record this season. The Tigers defeated College of Charleston in their season opener on Jan. 26 by a score of 6-1. Last weekend, Clemson dropped a 4-3 decision to then 27th-ranked South Alabama in Mobile. The Tigers are ranked 29th in the latest ITA poll, moving up from a ranking of 31st in the previous poll.

Clemson has a 2-1 all-time record against Chattanooga. The two teams last met in 1980, when the Tigers defeated the Mocs by a score of 7-2 in Clemson. Chattanooga is 0-3 on the season, most recently falling to Cincinnati by a score of 6-1.

The Tigers are 2-0 in matches against the 49ers. Last season, Clemson defeated Charlotte by a score of 7-0 in Clemson. The 49ers won a 7-0 decision over Pittsburgh last weekend to improve to 1-1 overall.
