CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team will open its 2004 spring season at home on Saturday against College of Charleston. The Tigers, ranked 15th according to the most recent ITA poll, will take on the Cougars at 12:00 p.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
The Tigers hold a 14-1 series advantage over College of Charleston, with Clemson winning last year’s meeting between the two teams by a score of 6-1. The Cougars are 0-1 so far this season, opening the season with a 7-0 loss to North Carolina.
Clemson is 24-3 all-time in home opening matches, and has currently won its last 10 consecutive home openers beginning with a 7-2 win over Furman in 1994. The Tigers’ most recent loss in a home opening match was a 3-6 loss to then-fourth-ranked Duke to open the 1993 season.
