Clemson Women’s Tennis Team To Face Sixth-Ranked Vanderbilt Friday

CLEMSON, SC – The 13th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team will travel to Nashville, TN on Friday to face sixth-ranked Vanderbilt at 2:30 p.m. The Tigers will face Iowa on Saturday in a match that is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Brownlee O. Currey Junior Tennis Complex on Vanderbilt’s campus. Clemson is 4-0 on the season, most recently defeating #14 Virginia Commonwealth by a score of 7-0.

The Tigers are 1-1 in the series against the Commodores. Vanderbilt won a 5-4 decision against Clemson in 1979, while the Tigers defeated the Commodores by a score of 7-2 at the AIAW Regional Tournament in 1981. Vanderbilt, ranked sixth according to the latest ITA poll, is 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the Southeastern Conference. The Commodores most recently opened conference play with a 5-2 victory over Arkansas.

This is the first meeting between Clemson and Iowa. The Hawkeyes are 5-0 so far this season, most recently defeating #41 Kansas State by a score of 6-1 to record their second consecutive victory over a ranked opponent.
