Clemson Women’s Tennis Team Ranked 16th In ITA Poll Released Tuesday

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team is ranked 16th according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll released on April 6. The Tigers improve five positions after being ranked 21st in last week’s poll.

Clemson is 17-3 overall and 6-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The team posted two conference victories on the road last week, defeating then-#30 Florida State (4-3) in Tallahassee and then-#41 Georgia Tech (4-3) in Atlanta. The Tigers are scheduled to face fourth-ranked Duke and 12th-ranked North Carolina on the road this weekend as they wrap up regular season play.

Clemson’s Julie Coin is ranked eighth by the ITA in singles. Coin, a junior from Amiens, France, earned ACC Performer of the Week honors this week after winning two singles matches and two doubles matches last week. It was the third time this season that Coin has earned the weekly conference accolade.

The Tigers’ Daniela Alvarez, a sophomore from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, is ranked 84th in the ITA singles poll. Freshman Maria Brito, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, is ranked in a tie for 114th in singles.

Two Clemson doubles teams are ranked in the ITA doubles poll. Brito and Coin are 15th, while Alvarez and senior Alix Lacelarie (Villeneuve-Les-Beziers, France) are 17th in doubles according to the ITA.
