Clemson Women’s Tennis Ranked 53rd In Most Recent ITA Poll

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team was ranked 53rd by the ITA in the poll released on Mar. 27. This is the Tigers first computerized ranking of the season. Clemson is 9-7 on the season, and 1-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

So far this season, the Tigers have played six ranked teams. Last week, the Tigers defeated 44th-ranked Oklahoma by a score of 5-2, and lost a 5-2 decision to #46 Washington State. Earlier this season, Clemson fell to the first-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, 6-1 and sixth-ranked Wake Forest, 5-2. The Tigers also lost a close match to #55 Old Dominion, 4-3, and fell to #22 South Carolina, 6-1.

Clemson also placed two players in the individual rankings released by the ITA on Mar. 20. Freshman Alix Lacelarie is currently ranked 83rd in singles. Lacelarie has a 20-10 overall singles record and an 11-4 record in dual matches. In Hawaii, Lacelarie defeated Washington State’s 50th-ranked Erica Perkins by a score of 6-4, 6-3. The Tigers’ doubles duo of Lacelarie and Laurence Jayet is currently ranked 31st in the country by the ITA. The team defeated Old Dominion’s 10th-ranked team of Cahana and Radeljevic by a score of 8-4, and was also victorious over Georgia’s #13 team of Grey and Cioroch, 8-4.
